It all begins with meeting people with the same interests as you.
Your local Club will host training events, calf shows, stock judging days and social evenings which may include BBQ’s, a night at the bowling alley, ice skating or even a karaoke. It all starts with your local Club!
At a national level, you could find yourself competing at the Weekend Rally, ABAB Calf Show and you may even find yourself travelling internationally and representing HYB as part of the team for the EYBS in Belgium or the Open Junior Show, in Italy with further opportunities to visit Australia and represent HYB on the exchange programme.

YBS 2024
The Young Breeders School will take place in Battice, Belgium from 28th August - 1st September. Holstein UK are looking forward to taking a team of six HYB members to represent them.

Think Dairy Careers Expo
Join us at the UK dairy industry’s first career focused event to engage and inspire the next generation to consider the opportunities the sector has to offer!
Led by Digital Dairy Chain, in partnership with Harrison and Hetherington at their Carlisle Auction Mart, this will be a one-day event with secondary school visits staggered throughout the day.
Think Dairy will showcase the wide variety of careers within the dairy sector, highlight the abundance of STEM-based roles, and allow students to meet the industry’s key businesses and employers.
Attractions will include:
An interactive exhibition with stands hosted by a variety of dairy businesses. The stands will be thought-provoking and activity based.
Exhibitors will be encouraged to run internships or work experience as a follow-on from the event itself.
Practical skills and dairy trades will be showcased including; milking, clipping and hoof trimming demonstrations.
Students will take part in a mock cattle auction in the main auction ring.
There will also be presentations from inspirational young dairy professionals on their route into the industry.

NI Club Stock Judging Event
It’s that time of the year again and NI HYB are ready to kick start the new year with the first of there three stockjudging nights.
Kindly hosted by the Watson Family of Majestic Holsteins, Coleraine on Friday 8th March 2024 at 7.30pm sharp.
Members are reminded that in order to qualify for the national competitions day you must attend at least two of the three judging events - full details of all the events will be available soon.
Open Junior Show
The Open Junior Show takes place annually in Italy, where up to 40 competitors from countries all over Europe compete for the top prize.
ABAB Calf Show
The All Breeds All Britain Calf Show is the UK’s leading event of its kind, featuring seven dairy breeds.
Club Calf Show - East Midlands
The E. Midland Club’s Calf Show will take place at Widmerpool Road on Sunday 24th September.

Since 1999, the school has been helping young people gain a better understanding and knowledge of cattle and the show ring.
HYB Weekend Rally
The HYB Weekend Rally, hosted by the South West Club will take place in Somerset from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th August.
Club Stock Judging - N. Ireland
The N. Ireland Club’s stock judging event will take place at Drumbo Holsteins, Lisburn on Friday 16th June at 7.30pm.
