Phil Potts

“Growing up, I had always been around Holsteins and was involved with the Carrock herd who helped steer me towards joining Border and Lakeland HYB and I competed in my first HYB showmanship competition when I was 12 years old. I have gained a career and a livelihood from being part of HYB. I joined with next-to-no experience in dairy cows, showing cows or even the industry as a whole. I’m now out-of-age with a great knowledge of the breed from fitting cows, managing dairy cows on a day-to-day basis and I’ve met so many people in the industry from all over the world. The highlight of my time in HYB has to be becoming the overall champion of the Open Junior Show in Montichiari, Italy. It was a dream to get selected and a week that I’ll never forget! If you’re thinking about joining HYB, jump in with both feet and get stuck in. Ask as many questions as possible and surround yourself with people in the industry that are at the top of their game.”

Phil was a member of the Border & Lakeland HYB Club until 2024
